Description and Features of Project
  • To provide transitional social housing on a limited-duration tenancy at affordable rents to grassroots households who have long been awaiting public rental housing or who are inadequately housed with a view to improving their quality of life
  • To mobilise community support to the grassroots and thereby enhance their life skills (e.g. financial management) and encourage them to contribute to society and gain social recognition
  • To provide transitional social housing on idle sites available for short-term use by using the most efficient, economical and environmentally friendly methods, viz. Design for Manufacture and Assembly or other suitable technologies (e.g. Modular Integrated Construction, precast concrete components, etc.)
Community Support / Social Service Elements
  • Individual level: To support tenants in acquiring life skills such as developing personal saving habit and gaining knowledge on social resources, so as to boost their confidence and capability in tiding over adversity, as well as enhance their ability to afford rents (solely or jointly) in the private residential market, thereby achieving self-reliance
  • Community level: To help tenants learn about living a social life and building a community, through which they can establish a social network with their neighbours and the community at large, and in turn enhance their quality of life and gain recognition from the community
