Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) collaborated with the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC) to refurbish vacant flats in Trackside Villas, a MTRC-owned property located in Tai Po, for the use as “T-Home” with a view to optimising the use of existing housing resources to provide transitional housing and enhancing the living environment of families waiting for public rental housing.

Eligibility Criteria

Hong Kong Housing Society

  • Three-person to six-person households who have waited for public rental housing (PRH) under the Hong Kong Housing Authority for at least 3 years;
  • Not owning any domestic property in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Council of Social Service (operated by SoCo)

  • Three to six person households Families who are inadequately housed and have waited for PRH for 3 years or above;
  • Families with urgent housing needs;
  • Those who have a full-time job or have applied for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA);
  • Other conditions or requirements applicable to the service scheme of the operating organisations must be met.
Rent Level

Hong Kong Housing Society

  • With reference to the rents of rental estates under HKHS, the fees of other HKHS transitional housing projects as well as the fees of current tenancy agreements of Trackside Villas

Hong Kong Council of Social Service (operated by SoCo)

  • The maximum rent allowance under the CSSA or 25% of the household income, whichever is lower
Description, Features and Services of Project

HKHS collaborated with the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC) to refurbish vacant flats in Trackside Villas, a MTRC-owned property located in Tai Po, for the use as “T-Home” with a view to optimising the use of existing housing resources to provide transitional housing and enhancing the living environment of families waiting for PRH.

In collaboration with HKCSS, HKHS also rented out some of the transitional housing units to people in need through the Social Housing. Starting from 1 July 2023, HKCSS has selected SoCo as the new operating organisation of Trackside Villas. SoCO will provide family-oriented services to residents through improving the quality of housing, strengthening the family capacity and neighborhood relationships to increase their community participation and mutual support networks, particular for the SEN families.
