Description, Features and Services of Project

Home Plus at Ha Heung Road is a project operated by the Salvation Army under the Community Housing Movement to address the housing needs of young people. One of its features is the concept of “work exchange” introduced from abroad, under which young tenants are required to “work” on a weekly basis as a way to contribute to the community. The Salvation Army also provides support services to the parents and children of single-parent families. For families with 4 members or above, individual units installed with a free broadband of 1 000 Mb will be allocated. Activities organised by the Salvation Army include match-up events and welcoming parties for new families, which seek to help them adapt quickly to their new homes and new community. Also, young tenants of the project hold regular meetings to discuss ways to build the community. To strengthen the tenants’ relationship, a Chinese dessert night was held to celebrate the Lantern Festival. Upon completion of three rounds of intake, a housewarming party was held in early March in order to provide an opportunity for residents to get together for dinner and form a strong social network at Home Plus.
